Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport have recently launched their Healthy At Home offer " https://www.lrsport.org/healthyathome " to support people to get and stay active during this unprecedented times.

Below outlines some of the key developments that LRS have been working on:

  • Virtual Classes:  We are aware that many of our local instructors are now offering an online / virtual programme to support people to be Active At Home.  Our Get Active Search now has the functionality for local instructors, groups, organisations to add their virtual sessions.  We need your help!  Please can we ask that you promote this to your contacts and encourage them to sign up and promote their activities. ( https://www.lrsport.org/virtual-activity-sessions )
  • Learn At Home:  Many training and development organisations already host a wide array of online and distance learning courses and workshops. However, with the huge impact COVID-19 has had on our working lives, more providers than ever are adding content to their websites, in addition to making them more accessible through concessionary rates or for free.  Our Learn at Home page highlights some of the sport, physical activity and wellbeing  learning opportunities that partners are promoting. (https://www.lrsport.org/learn-at-home)
  • Charity Challenges At Home: Physical Activity has often been used as a fundraising tool and many charities are still encouraging us to take part in fundraising whilst adhering to government guidelines. A number have created specific challenges linked to COVID 19 fundraising and further information on these can be found on our dedicated charity challenges webpage. ( https://www.lrsport.org/charity-challenges-at-home )
  • Hi Five Challenges:  Simple home based 30 second challenges to improve your hand / eye co-ordination, agility, balance, co-ordination and speed.  Each Friday we will be launching a new weekly challenge for you to try at home. Each one takes 30 seconds and requires simple equipment you should be able to find around the house, shed or garage.  ( https://www.lrsport.org/hifive-challenges )
  • Active Foxes Challenge: The Active Foxes challenge is organised by BBC Radio Leicester and supported by Leicester-Shire and Rutland Sport.  It took Leicester City Football Club's regular 11 players 515 hours of football to win the Premier League title in 2015/16 and the fourth anniversary of that incredible day in Leicester City Football Club's history is coming up on May 2nd 2016 and we people to log their activity to achieve the total of 515 hours of activity before then. ( Sign up to the challenge at https://www.lrsport.org/activefoxes )
  • Join the Movement: Links have been made to Sport England’s Join the Movement / #StayInWorkOut campaign to provide tips, advice and guidance on how to keep or get active in and around your home.

We want to thank all partners who have supported the Healthy At Home offer to date, this may be through; putting links on their websites, social media promotion, resource development, running online activity etc.

In addition to Healthy At Home, Leicester-Shire & Rutland Sport have been working to update the funding and support pages on the LRS website for businesses, sports clubs and organisations. We have been trying to bring all the relevant information for our sector into one place in a way,  including a number of links to business/financial support available, specifically around coping with the impact of the Coronavirus on the cash flow, staffing and long term sustainability of businesses, sports clubs and organisations.  ( https://www.lrsport.org/organisational-support-coronavir )

If you want any additional information on the above or would like to discuss any further developments or opportunities for joint working then please do let us know.

Kind Regards
