School Sport Coaching
What is it?
This programme is one of the 10 strands of PESSYP. The aim is to increase the number of coaching hours delivered through school sport. Each partnership is to deliver 1500 coaching hours per year. The way we recruit, train and then deploy coaches into schools will change to improve School Sport Coaching. Coaches are to deliver out of school hours activities. The programme will help to support those young people who are into their 5th hour of participation. School Sport Coaching hopes to link with NGB’s coaching and competition programmes- the activities are focussed on the 21 competition framework sports.
Funding?
- Each partnership receives funding within their annual grant. This will be topped up each year for three years.
- This funding supercedes the DCSF Community Sports Coach funding.
- Partnership Development Managers have developed a plan that incorporates sporting priorities for the partnership based on self evaluation.
