Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications use the medium of sport to help people to learn to lead. They learn the essential skills of leadership: communication, organisation and motivation, but in addition to this they grow in confidence and self belief. The personal journeys that people undertake whilst learning to lead, stand them in good stead for their future careers and life itself.

Playing for Success (PfS) is a partnership between the Department for Chiildren, Families and School (DCFS), local authorities and a broad range of sports. Through PfS, the Department and its partners have established out of school hours study support centres at sports clubs. Each centre is run by a centre manager and supported by tutor mentors, IT technicians and in some cases by other teachers. The centres use the environment and medium of sport as motivational tools.

11   Link   Hoops for Health
Leicester Riders have been doing some exciting work in 32 schools around the county. The programme is called Hoops 4 Health.

This educational programme tackles health issues in an entertaining and interactive manner, working with professional basketball players from the Leicester Riders Basketball Club. Children look up to these role models in more ways than one, as sessions captivate pupils. The messages delivered will really hit home!
12   Link   Jump Rope for Heart
Jump Rope For Heart (JRFH) is the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) popular sponsored skipping challenge that raises money for schools and the nation's heart charity. The initiative has been going for 21 years now, and it just got even better! Your school is in a lucky area that has been selected to receive additional services from a dedicated JRFH Field Officer and the good news is that the scheme will be continuing throughout the Autumn Term!
13   Link   Hinkley Gymnastics Club
Hinkley Gymnastics Club is one of the most high profile gymnastics clubs in the region, catering for gymnasts of all levels, from beginners to international athletes. The club have two training venues, one at Clarendon Park and also at the new Olympic standard facility at New College Leicester. 14   Link   Leicester Cycle Speedway Club
Cycle speedway is a fast, exciting, nerve jangling sport. Much the same as speedway, there are no brakes or gears on a cycle speedway bike. If you are looking to give a new sport a try, cycle speedway is definately worth looking at. Leicester Cycle Speedway Club are a Go Ride accredited club and are always looking for new members. Coming along to have a go costs nothing and only costs £1 per night to hire a bike.

Based at the Leicester Outdoor Pursuits Centre, Leicester Off Road Club focus on the off cycling disciplines. The club are Go Ride accredited and have a large number of junior members. The club has a very friendly atmosphere and always welcomes new members
