Active Kids, Healthy Families!
‘Active Kids, Healthy Families’ are a series of events organised to develop, promote and increase the awareness of the benefits of leading healthy, active lifestyles for the whole family.
There are currently four open events being scheduled to run at various school sites across the city (Beaumont Leys, City of Leicester, Samworth Enterprise Academy & Moat C.C). The events which will run after school hours will provide creative and interesting ideas to help the family maintain a healthy lifestyle. The events will also include information stands focusing on health and nutrition, NHS Leicester City, health and fitness checks such as diabetes checks, blood pressure and BMI etc, nutrition and healthy eating information and demonstrations, including a smoothie bike, and fun games and activities provided by local providers.
Each school will be asked to identify 10 young people and their families, whom they feel will benefit most from these events. By doing this we hope to educate Leicester City residents to change their lifestyles for a more active and healthier family.
These events will be a great opportunity to engage young people and their whole families on the issues surrounding healthy living and physical activity.
With resident’s health currently being such a big issue within the City, the event will be a great opportunity to engage young people and their families on the issues surrounding their health, and to support local residents to make the link between a balanced diet, regular physical activity and a healthier lifestyle.
The four events will be taking place at the following venues.
